Some wine tasting excursions in your future?

Ever been wine tasting before?  It’s so much fun!  I have gone a couple of times.  Living in Southern California, there are many options that are not that far away.  This is definitely a great idea for Valentine’s Day!  I mean, think about it.  Chocolates and flowers are so Passé.

Be original, guys!

How much fun would it be to go and just spend the day at the countryside with someone you love, tasting wine, laughing, meeting new people and creating amazing memories?  It’s seriously the perfect thing to do when you can’t think of what to do on Valentine’s Day!  The element of surprise is always nice too, so perhaps don’t give it up until you’re in the car.  Just tell your other half to dress in layers.  It might start out very hot and with all the wine in your system, who needs clothes?  Well, eventually the night will come because the time will fly by with all the fun you’re having.  Maybe be spontaneous with your gift as well.  There’s nothing like having something that’s sentimental and reminds someone of something they did when they’re with someone they love.  Lots of these wineries have little boutiques with great handmade gifts.  Sure, it might be a little pricey, but your other half is worth it; right?

Before you go wine tasting, maybe it would be fun to rent the movie Sideways!  If you haven’t seen it, here’s a link to watch a trailer and read up a bit on the storyline.    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375063/ It was a great movie and might even give you hints of if this is something your significant other would be interested in doing.

Solvang is where we last went wine tasting.   And on the way we made sure to fit in a short stop to check out the ostriches. We even got to feed them for a small fee.   Definitely made for some fun photo opportunities. You can see them at Ostrich Land, 610 East Highway 246, between Buellton and Solvang. The really good news – these ostriches are not raised to be eaten!

Cheers to wine tasting and to creating amazing memories!
